A closer look at the 10 steps behind our alloy wheel refurbishment and powder coating.

The journey, step by step

1. Remove the wheels and tyres

   We remove the wheels from the vehicle and take off the tyres.

2. Inspect for damage

   We inspect the wheels and tyres, then repair or replace any damaged parts as required.

3. Strip the old finish

   We chemically strip the wheels to remove the existing coating.

4. Repair the wheels

   We remove kerb rash and repair other damage to the wheels.

5. Sandblast the surface

   We use aluminium oxide to create a surface the powder coating can bond to.

6. Degas the wheels

   We heat the wheels in an oven to release oils and gases trapped in the metal.

7. Apply the finish

   We apply primer, colour and lacquer in three stages, curing each coat in the oven.

8. Allow to cool

   We let the wheels cool to room temperature.

9. Refit and balance the tyres

   We refit the tyres and balance each wheel.

10. Fit the wheels

    We fit the finished wheels back onto the vehicle.
